The drawing shows the method I use to cope the end of a piece of quarter-round molding. Using this trick I can quickly and accurately make coped inside corners, such as the intersection of quarter-round toe molding at the bottom of a baseboard.
As shown in the drawing, I use a Forstner bit that is twice the radius of the molding to cut the cope. For example, a 3/4-in. quarter round requires a 1-1/2-in. bit. To make sure the edge of the molding is centered under the axis of the bit, I hold the molding against an auxiliary fence mounted on my drill press.
