Exterior Faucet
Woodford's exterior faucet is equipped with an integral pressure-releif valve and boasts a burst-proof tube
Despite the name, freeze-proof exterior faucets often freeze and burst. Usually the problem can be traced back to a hose left attached to the faucet. In freezing temperatures, the water in the hose freezes and backs up into the extension tube of the faucet, building up pressure until the extension tube splits open.
To prevent this common failure, Woodford makes exterior faucets with a pressure-relief valve. If a hose is accidentally left attached in cold weather, the faucet will still freeze and won’t operate, but the extension tube buried in the wall won’t burst.
Woodford sells several models with the integral pressure-relief valve and also sells retrofit kits for its existing faucets.
