If you’re looking for a better-looking shower drain, without the hassle and expense of a linear drain, you might consider the new Tile-In Drain from Sioux Chief. Made with a built-in clamping collar, so that it can be integrated into the waterproofing liner, the stainless-steel drain is height-adjustable and can be used with tile or stone up to 1/2 in. thick. It’s available in PVC and ABS versions and sells for about $75.

Sioux Chief's Tile-In shower drain has a stainless-steel tile insert and either a PVC or ABS body. The insert accepts tile up to 1/2 in. thick and the drain has 1 in. of height adjustment.
Once installed, the drain blends unobtrusively into the shower floor and since the metal components are mostly hidden, the shower valve and shower head can be any finish.
