If you’ve ever struggled to achieve a tight fit with T&G decking without marring the material, you might be able to use this tip. Instead of using pry bars or bump sticks, we use a big bumper jack. Its base bears against a 2×4 block nailed to the floor framing, while the jack leans on a scrap piece of the T&G decking. Using this method we get a tight fit every time, with T&G boards or plywood, even in the winter when the decking stiffens up in the cold weather.
