I do plenty of trim work, and I often have to measure from the short point of a miter. I’ve come up with an easy way to get accurate measurements every time. As shown in the drawing, I place my Speed Square across the short end of the miter. Then I secure the square to the workpiece with a squeeze of my spring clamp, hook my tape measure on the square and pull my measurement.
