This “infill” site had been overlooked for many years. The site is slightly sloping with a very irregular shaped created to overcome some lot size requirements that were violated many years prior. The small lot also has several very mature redwood trees. Additionally many had been misinterpreting the planning rules relating lot coverage. Seemed like the perfect site to us.
On the positive side: we wanted to showcase a home with “GREEN” attributes and this infill site fit the bill. It was part of a subdivision created in the sixties but others were not able to develop. The site was significantly landscaped. It is centrally located with an extreme amount of local services (liveable communities) – Transportation, Recreation, Schools, Medical facilities, markets and restaurants all within walking distance. It was even located near our office.
Program: Create a contemporary, sustainable, healthy, low (energy/ natural resources) impact home. Create a connection with the outside using to small irregular lot to the best possible advantage. The home should play well with others – It should entertain and it should comfort its occupants. As always it uses light to open living areas and crated space.
