Pondside gazebo
Black cherry trees were harvested and milled on site into framing timbers and the offcuts were made into decking.
Designed as a 300 square foot wing off the back of the garage-end of the house, this porch has three-sided exposure to catch the summer breezes, and a fireplace to extend the ‘useful season’ in the spring and fall.
This is a screened structure for napping and the occasional overnight in Vermont, located out of view of the house and gardens up a lovely path in the woods.
My mother-in-law, who owns 6 cats, asked me if there was anything I could build so her cats could enjoy the outdoors and still remain perfectly safe. After going over several ideas, the “Cat Ranch” is what we came up with.

Handy Heat Gun
This heat gun is great for drying joint compound, primer and paint when patching drywall and plaster walls. Plus it can soften adhesive, get a very cold small engine to start, and shrink heat-shrink tubing.
This camera is super useful for tracking down air leaks in buildings. The one-hand pistol grip arrangement frees your other hand for steadying yourself while maneuvering tricky job sites.
