The buck and background in this custom wood floor were made with pine, aspen, ebony, and some other exotic woods jigsawed together. The field material for the floor is pine cut from the customer’s property. Everything is stained and tinted with a waterbased floor finish.
I’ve also posted photos of another project that includes a wood inlay portraying a sun dog motif.

Preparation. The first step of the project was to remove the existing carpet.
Installation. I glued down all of the handscribed wood pieces.
Detail work. After sanding the floor, I routed grooves for branches then epoxied hand-cut branches and needles in place.
Completion. Here's a photo of the floor after it's been buffed, stained, and finished.
Close up of Buck. Multiple species of wood were used to create clouds, hills, fields, and the buck head and antlers. I stained and tinted the wood to create depth.
