Gates to span the entire driveway. 16′ wide, 6’6″ high and 3″ thick. It was actually harder to make these out of PT than another domestic wood just because of the warpage in Big Box lumber. The joints were simplified through halflap – in a way. 2x lumber, opposite runs on each side with polyurethane adhesive and stainless screws. Two additional side gates were made with PT lumber, mortise and tennon joints and polyurethane glue. The guy at Home Depot was kind enough to let me use the concrete joints and the floor in his sheet good area so that me and my 9 year old son could draw out half of the ellipse. I couldn’t find handles I liked, so I made them with 1″ square steel tube offset from the door by 3″ sections of 3/4″ round steel tube.

Hi Rob.
Nice gate!
How's it holding up ~3 years later? I'm considering a similar project and was looking for guidance.
Cool Ideas! And to partner with Good Asphalt Paving for Driveways, wow that's really awesome.
