Santa Barbara-based Becker Studios renovated this 1960s ranch home down to the studs, turning it into a contemporary hacienda reminiscent of times past. In order to create an authentic Old World feel, they replaced the roof with one that is a blend of antique mission roof tile. Throughout the home, they laid wide-plank oak flooring and installed vintage wood ceiling beams. To create a bright, airy home that maximizes the mountain views, the firm opted for generous windows and steel framed, paneled glass doors. They situated the master suite to open-up onto the newly renovated yard and pool. To further blur the lines between indoors and out, they installed a semi-enclosed, private outdoor soaking tub; an extension of the master bedroom that spills out onto the remodeled patio and fireplace. For the interiors, they infused a simple, stripped down rustic decor, using Spanish stone countertops, antique light fixtures and a neutral color palette. The result is an architectural expression of classic mission with a modern edge while offering serenity and sophistication in a relaxing atmosphere. This house is so experiential!
