VIF Studio transformed this New England waterfront manor into a minimalistic oasis. Originally constructed in the 19th century, the manor house had undergone several partial renovations over the years. VIF Studio was tasked with remediating the numerous infrastructural vulnerabilities as well as restoring the interior and exterior to its original stately grandeur. In doing so, the design required a balance of sensibilities to its historic New England environs and the modern aesthetic of the owners. The principles of shaker design melded well with the ethos of modern detailing, allowing us to strike a balance between the 19th and 21st centuries.

I personally like the minimalistic concept because less is definitely more. If there are too many things going on like dark walls, dark flooring and many too much furnishing, the place would look cluttered and not airy like how I like my house to feel. I really admire how this Boston estate looks and feels like and I am pretty sure if it was my house, I would definitely look forward to going home at the end of each day to get my well deserved rest.
