This is a kitchen and outdoor kitchen remodel, complete with new composite decking, we did for a Lake House vacation home in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Our client wanted to update their existing kitchen to something more timeless where they could host cooking parties and family events. It was also important for them to have dual kitchen sinks and dishwashers to be able to clean up quickly after meals. They really liked the look of an all-white kitchen but also wanted to incorporate some contrast, so they went with custom island cabinets made from 1/4 sawn white oak stained in dark walnut. Both sets of cabinets are custom made in a shaker style with simple Emtek bin pulls, pulls and glass “Bristol” knobs in polished nickel. The white 3×6″ subway tiled backsplash adds to the timeless feel and the Wolf and Sub-Zero stainless steel appliances help to break up all of the white. Both the kitchen and island cabinets are topped with Cambria Quartz in “Torquay”. A simple white crown tops the kitchen cabinets as well as the soffit, which is hides the LED rope light. We completed the kitchen with white tongue and groove ceilings. Flooring is custom 7″ wide hickory planks with light hand scraping in a light finish. Pendants over this island are Restoration Hardware’s 15″ Harmon in polished nickel.
We also bumped out the dining room area with bay windows and sliders that open to the brand new outdoor kitchen and Resysta deck. The new outdoor kitchen is complete with lexan roofing, sliding phantom screens to keep bugs away, and electric heaters for cool summer nights. Our client wanted an outdoor cooking area that would be fully functional, so we surrounded the 54″ Wolf BBQ with stainless steel cabinets, ice maker, mini fridge and an undermount sink and faucet. The cabinets are topped with the same countertop as the indoor kitchen: Cambria Quartz in “Torquay,” with an 8″ splash. The decking is a composite material made from corn husks and will stand up to the harsh winters and warm summers in this area. The ceiling above the outdoor area is half cedar tongue and groove and the lake side half is clear Lexan to allow more natural light into the area. Retro barn lights and an oversized fan keep this area well-lit for late night dining or game time with family.
