IM200-S16 Hoseless Siding Stapler Review
This hoseless siding stapler can shoot staples into a piece of vinyl siding at a consistent distance above the hem
Once I got the knack of this tool, I could staple off an entire 12-ft. 6-in. panel as fast as it took me to drive one nail by hand. The greatest thing was that the tool left the staple an absolutely consistent 1/16 in. above the hem to allow the siding to expand and contract. That’s better than I can hand-nail.
Paslode’s Impulse family of hoseless nailers and staplers is powered by what amounts to a single-cylinder internal-combustion engine. A small MAPP gas cylinder inserts directly behind the body of the tool, and a rechargeable battery tucks in alongside the fastener track. The gas is the fuel, and the battery supports the spark, electronics and a cooling fan. We punished this stapler with several 10-ft. falls off the staging and ignored the cleaning instructions, but it kept on working.
Outfitted with a different tip, the stapler can handle sheathing, furring strips and other sidings, such as cedar shingles. There’s also a no-mar tip for face-stapling clapboards or finish trim. The stapler drives 1/2-in. crown, 16-ga. staples from 5/8 in. to 2 in. long.
