It didn’t take me long to split the wood handsaw bracket inside the lid of my toolbox. In searching for a durable replacement, I came up with the bracket shown in the drawing. To make it, I first cut a short length of garden hose in half, lengthwise, to give the bracket a low profile. After cutting the hose to length, I drilled holes to match those in the box’s lid and assembled the bracket with machine screws and rubber faucet-washer spacers between the hose halves to protect the saw teeth.
