The corrugated plastic liner covering my pickup’s bed helps to keep the finish in good shape, but its slick surface caused my tool boxes to slide from side to side whenever I turned corners. To make the boxes stay put, I made runners for them out of 1/2-in. dowels wrapped with 3/4-in. rubber hose (see drawing). After drilling pilot holes, I affixed the runners to the bottoms of the boxes with three or four screws each, driven from the inside of the box. Now my boxes can hang on tight on the way to the job.
