I line my shop vacuum with a plastic trash bag to make it easier to empty without generating the clouds of dust ordinarily associated with dumping a vacuum’s contents. To keep the bag from obstructing the vacuum’s filter, I place a disposable cardboard basket inside the bag. The cardboard basket should be cut to a height of no less than three quarters of the canister height and should be of sufficent length to encircle at least one half of the canister’s circumference. This technique will also boost the suction in a vacuum with a leaky canister.
