To make a clean cut with my circular saw, I get out the paraffin wax and rub it on the sawblade teeth (don’t forget to unplug the saw). Whether it be an exposed beam or an expensive door with a delicate veneer, the wax helps the blade glide through the material. I find that a little wax on the teeth of a boring bit also helps when I’m faced with boring holes for locksets.
