A sprained ankle can be but a few steps away on a job site that’s littered with framing offcuts. That’s why I make it a point to regularly pick up construction debris. A push broom, however, can’t handle the really heavy stuff. For that I use the plywood plow shown in the drawing. It only takes a minute to build one out of scraps. Make the handle about 4 ft. long, and the plow no wider than the narrowest passage or doorway.

And then, afterwards, you can use it to plow snow off the driveway and sidewalk. I find the plywood shovel smoother for negotiating the bumps in a paving stone driveway...
