Like many tradesmen, I have a bad lower back. When I bought my used Mazda pickup, I found that the bench seat didn’t have enough lumbar support. To change this, I placed a rectangular block of plywood between the springs and the foam back of the seat, as shown in the drawing. After some experimentation to find the right size and thickness for the block, I finally settled on a 3-in. by 9-in. rectangle of in. plywood.
