Whenever I have to cut a mitered edge in a piece of rubber cove base, I reach for a couple of 1x4s and a C-clamp. As shown in the drawing, the 1x4s have 45° angles on their ends. Clamped together with the cove in the middle, they make an accurate cutting guide for a knife blade. To back the cut at the curved “toe” of the cove, I glued a length of 1/2-in. half-round to one of the 1x4s.
