On a recent plumbing job I had to cut the ABS pipe with great accuracy. Skewed cuts would have thrown off my layout, making it tough to fit the parts into the tight existing conditions. As shown in the drawing , I used two 1x4s and a 2×4 to make a cutoff jig. The width of a 2×4 handily accommodates a 3-in. dia. ABS pipe. And by adding spacers, I can use the jig for 1-1/2-in. and 2-in. pipe. A bar clamp at one end pinches the fences inward, keeping the pipe from spinning as it is cut.
