Sometimes I don’t have enough store-bought clamps to get me through a big glue job when I’m working with wood laminations. The little clamps shown in the drawing are an inexpensive solution. I rip strips of hardwood to suitable lengths and then drill holes near their ends. Coupled with stove bolts and wing nuts, the wood strips make quick, inexpensive clamps.

Seems like a great idea! You might want to try using Carriage Bolts rather than Stove Bolts... their squared shoulders will keep the bolts from turning and falling out while you spin the wing nuts, speeding the task.
