Pulling the toilet is a necessary evil when replacing the bathroom floor covering. Here are a couple of tricks that make the job a little easier.
After shutting off the water and emptying the tank with a final flush, I rapidly pour two or three gallons of water into the bowl. This creates a siphon action that leaves the bowl almost empty. Then I set the toilet in a shallow wooden box with inside dimensions approximately 12 in. by 16 in. The box is mounted on casters, as shown in the drawing. Now I can roll the toilet out of harms way without dribbles or back strain. By the way, some newspaper in the bottom of the box will help soak up moisture.
