If you’ve ever installed a mirror atop a rabbeted ledger, you’ve probably noticed that the inside of the ledger is reflected at the bottom of the mirror. Sometimes this unexpected line of color isn’t much of a problem, but if it presents an aesthetic hiccup to the overall composition, make it go away. Here’s how.
As shown in the drawing, run a strip of black electrical tape along the lower edge of the mirror. Make sure the tape extends above the top edge of the ledger, then trim off any excess with a utility knife. The result is an innocuous black line at the bottom of the mirror.
