If you spend any time on an extension ladder, pretty soon your shins and thighs will start to ache where they lean against the rungs above your feet. I solved this problem with a couple of pieces of 1-in. foam pipe insulation. The natural clamping action of the insulation keeps the pieces in place while allowing me to move them from rung to rung as needed.
