Like a lot of carpenters, I use my variable-speed drill as a screwgun from time to time. I keep the bits handy in my tool pouch, but it can be tough to find a bit in the assorted debris that inevitably gathers in the bottom of the pouch.
I solved the problem by slipping a pencil eraser over the end of each bit. I use the kind of erasers that can be purchased at the stationery store and look a little bit like Bugs Bunny’s head, but without the ears.
Now, I can find a bit whenever I need one, simply by touch. And, for the first time in my life, I also can find an eraser whenever I need one.
