My experience with air hoses on the job site has taught me that the hoses usually wear out next to the fittings, especially the one that connects to the compressor. So whenever I buy a new hose, I wrap the ends with electrical tape as shown in the drawing . I take care to taper the wraps, building them up to their thickest point right next to the fittings. That way the hose won’t fold at the fittings when I have to give the hose a tug.
