If you’re caught hanging drywall without your screw gun, you still can get good results if you’ve got a variable-speed drill on the job. Chuck a short Phillips bit in the drill, and adjust its depth so that a 1/32-in. gap exists between the jaws of the chuck and the head of the screw, as shown in the drawing. With this setup, a drill will set screws just like a screw gun.
