We do a lot of kitchens with granite countertops, and we inevitably run into a problem when it comes time to affix the dishwasher to the underside of the counter. The client usually has neglected to buy the special mounting kit, or it simply isn’t available. With that in mind, we came up with the solution that’s shown in the drawing.
We cut a piece of wood that matches the cabinets to a 24-in. length. Then we thicknessplane it to fit into the gap between the mounting flange on the top of the dishwasher and the underside of the counter. Next, we apply a bead of clear silicone caulk to the filler strip, and clamp it to the counter. The next day, we pull the clamps and secure the dishwasher to the strip with a couple of wood screws. This solution also works well with solid-surface countertops.
