Here’s another use for the now ubiquitous 1-quart plastic oil bottles (see drawing). I cut off their tops, swab them out, wash them clean and then use them as mixing containers for two-part glues, such as epoxies. A close look at the side of one of these bottles will reveal a narrow, translucent strip that lets you see how much oil remains. Graduations along the strip are in milliliters and ounces, so you can measure in the appropriate unit, whether at home or abroad.

You can also use the cut off top part as a funnel
The cut-off bottoms are also good for punch-list quantities of hardware. I've made shoe-box size master boxes, but the cut-offs nest nicely in almost any box. My co-workers tease me about the collection, except when they need a few screws or nails.
