No matter how good your drywall-taping skills are, chances are you’ll find a missed dimple or two in the final sanding. I used to circle the dimples with a pencil, touch them up with joint compound and sand them once they’d had a chance to dry — just like everyone else.
For some reason, though, I found that I often forgot to sand these touch-ups. They blended in so well that I didn’t discover them until I had a paintbrush in hand, and one time it took a critical client to bring one of those forgotten touch-ups to my attention.
I’ve solved this problem with a little bit of paint. I mix some into my touch-up mud so that when the stuff dries, the patch stands out. This result always seems to raise a question from the curious client, instead of the critical one.
