Attaching a backsplash to a kitchen counter can be awkward. The problem lies in finding adequate purchase for the braces that hold the backsplash to the wall while the glue — typically silicone caulk or construction adhesive — sets up. The drawing shows my solution.
Double-sided tape, such as that sold for carpet installation, is the key. I place pieces of this tape along the backsplash, along the counter and along the bottoms of the upper cabinets. The tape is plenty sticky enough to hold wooden braces with appropriately beveled ends in place while the glue gets a grip.
