I find my Black & Decker Workmate to be incredibly useful in the workshop and in projects around the house. But it has a shortcoming: It has little room for tool storage, which can be a real drawback outside the shop.
To remedy this situation, I made a couple of tool holders out of vinyl rain gutter. As shown in the drawing, the tool troughs fit over the Workmate’s crossbars. For a finishing touch, I put end caps on each trough to prevent things from falling out. Now 1 have room to stash my tape measure, screwdrivers, flashlight or just about any other small tool that might otherwise end up on the ground or stuffed in my pocket.
