If you’ve done any caulking from a ladder, you know how easy it is to scatter worm-shaped goobers of caulk on anything unlucky enough to be within range. Even the “dripless” guns can’t prevent construction adhesive from oozing out. So I built the plywood holster shown in the drawing for my caulk guns. It hangs on a crossbar near the top of the ladder, where it’s easy to reach. Once a month, I knock out a fist-size pile of dry caulk that would have otherwise wound up as a slippery mess on the floor or on ladder rungs.
