I use earmuff-type hearing protection a great deal. But this headgear is not without drawbacks. The plastic surface that comes in contact with the outer ear can become uncomfortable in the summer as I perspire. So I solved the problem (and have made them just plain more comfortable to wear anytime) by simply slipping an old sock over each ear cup.
