Locating a buried electric, water, or gas line with a backhoe bucket can ruin your whole day. Here’s a way to avoid the problem. Simply place some fluorescent tape — the kind that is used by surveyors to mark their stakes — above the buried lines as the utility trench is backfilled. The tape is inexpensive and comes in a variety of colors.
