The new random-orbit sanders are one step from fantastic, and the hook-and-loop discs that are available for the machines are equally wonderful because they can be reused. But hook-and-loop discs have a significant drawback: They cost about twice as much as their stick-on counterparts. The answer is to save your worn-out hook-and-loop discs and apply a cheaper stick-on disc of the same size over it. They work just fine, and the process can be repeated several times before the base wears out.
