Video Vault: A Jig for Cutting Multiple Dadoes With a Router
Level wood shelves are a cinch with this simple guide for making the slots in which to fit them.
Once the lines are drawn, how do you center the router to cut an accurate dado? In this gem from the Fine Homebuilding Video Vault, John Carroll, North Carolina author and building contractor, presents a quick solution for a perfect cut every time. All you need is a scrap of lumber, a square, and your router with the bit you’ll be using to cut the dadoes. In this video, John doesn’t even have to use math to make the jig in two minutes.

Great tip!
Nice....thanks
Why not use this when you're using your circular saw against a straight edge too? True, for narrow boards you can simply place your saw on the mark and slap a layout square alongside, but if you want even better control, or alignment for wider boards, this tip would work great.
Excellent tip.
User,
I do make the same kind of marking jig for my circular saw. It's great for setting up a straightedge when cutting down doors.
Carroll is the laziest carpenter in the country- he's figured out the easy way to do almost everything.
