This month is a little tougher than most, so we’re going to give you a hint — it’s not an ashtray of any sort. Also, the round part looks like a spinning wheel, but we’ll leave all sewing related items to our sister publications Threads and Sew Stylish.

Last Month’s Winner

Last month’s mystery tool was a box-scraper used to remove labels (painted or otherwise) on wooden boxes and crates so that the container could be re-used.

Don Hughes, a retired millwright from Anchor Glass Company in Elmira N.Y., was randomly picked from hundreds of entries and wins a year’s subscription to Fine Homebuilding magazine.

Tools may be known by different names in various parts of the country, but there is a common, accepted name we’re looking for. So even if you and your buddies call it this, but we’re looking for that, the final decision is left to the editor. Sorry, those are the breaks.
