Brad and pin-nail accounting

Pneumatic brad and pin nailers are amazingly useful tools, but running out of brads or pin nails at a crucial moment can be mighty frustrating. Problem is, some nailers have such small viewing windows that it’s tough to know how many nails are left.

To solve this problem, I color the last few nails in a clip with a felt-tip marker. The markings don’t interfere with the firing mechanism. I keep my eye on the viewing window, and when a colored nail shows up, I always know when I’m about to run out.
