A truly erasable chalkline? I was pretty skeptical. So I snapped a line across a white wall to see for myself. To my surprise, the line disappeared with the single swipe of a rag. Impressed, I started to get excited about being able to mark stud locations over painted surfaces so that I could install cabinetry, wainscot, or crown molding.
The folks at Irwin won’t tell me how the light-violet chalk manages to form clean, crisp lines yet still wipe away so easily, but they did hint that “less pigment equals less permanence.” However the chalk works, I can tell you that it works well.
