90545 WorkTunes Headphones Review
These headphones combine hearing protection with an AM/FM radio
I’ve always been extremely safety-conscious except when it comes to my hearing. Standard earplugs and earmuffs make me feel like I’m working in a sensory-deprivation chamber. But not anymore. WorkTunes headphones offer the same level of noise reduction as the company’s standard earmuffs, but instead of the sounds of silence, this unit features an AM/FM radio. The reception isn’t as sharp as on my regular radio, but the sound quality is fine. The WorkTunes radio runs on a pair of AA batteries that seem to last forever. I’ve run mine for more than a year without replacing them.
I appreciate these headphones the most when I’m doing repetitive tasks such as ripping a lot of plywood or mowing the lawn. My only complaint is that you can’t occasionally crank the volume to an ear-splitting level. But I suspect the manufacturer didn’t want to substitute one noise hazard for another.
