R82233 12v Right-Angle Impact Driver Review
This right-angle impact driver from Ridgid can drive screws inside cabinets, between studs, or between mantelpiece pilasters
In the past, I’ve had trouble with right-angle drill-drivers because I could never get enough leverage on the screw head when my hand was 6 in. off center from the bit. But when the dexterity of a right-angle driver is combined with the hammer action of an impact driver pushing 700 in./lb. of torque, as with Ridgid’s new R82233 impact driver, you don’t need leverage.
At first, I found the tool’s variable-speed paddle switch annoying because I constantly triggered the tool when I tried to pick it up, but I soon appreciated the paddle actuator for its delicate response to light pressure. It’s perfect for awkward positions.
Although this tool may not be as useful as a conventional impact driver for general-purpose work, it’s certainly worth a spot in your toolbox if you regularly drive screws inside cabinets, between studs, or even inside mantelpiece pilasters.
All of Ridgid’s cordless drill-drivers, including this new impact driver, come with 20-minute chargers, too. That’s a nice feature.
