BO6040 Random-Orbit Sander Review
This dual-mode right-angle sander from Makita has a huge soft-start motor
This dual-mode right-angle sander has a huge soft-start motor. Its 6-in. pad accepts six- or eight-hole disks. Its variable-speed dial is inconveniently hidden under the cord at the rear of the tool. In its mode-change system, the orbit size remains the same, but in the aggressive mode, the sander’s drive system forces the pad into a powerful spin–more like that of a right-angle grinder–which dramatically reduces the rate of material removed. It also makes for a wild ride that can be harder to control than the in-line force of a belt sander. A case is included, but no side handle or vacuum adapter.
