R2610 Random-Orbit Sander Review
This pistol-grip sander from Ridgid has two modes: one for fine finishing and the other for aggressive but controllable material removal
This powerful 6-in. machine was our choice for best value of the six pistol-grip sanders we tested. It has two modes: a 1/8-in. orbit for fine finishing and a 1/4-in. orbit for aggressive but controllable material removal. Changing modes was awkward, however, requiring the user to rotate the pad by hand. The mode indicator was obscured easily by dust. The dust bag worked well; when connected to a vacuum, the sander ran best with reduced suction. The front handle was instantly removable for getting into restricted areas. This sander produced less than average vibration, but it was a bit heavy for extended vertical use.
