Rocket Anchor Chalkline Holder Review
The Rocket Anchor is designed to capture the metal clip at the end of a chalkline
Chris Bartimus has come up with a clever idea. It’s called the Rocket Anchor, and it’s a hardened-steel pin wrapped by a bullet-shaped body. The chalkline’s metal clip slips securely into the body of the Rocket Anchor, or you can use the Rocket Anchor instead of the metal clip. The body is about 3 in. long, and the needle can be set to protrude up to 1/2 in. depending on the material it’s going into.
In the first month that I had mine, I used it to snap level lines around a concrete foundation. I poked the point into green concrete and with my palm whacked the Rocket Anchor on the cap. After eight pokes, I was done, and the point was still pretty sharp. When it dulls, it’s easy to tune up on a stone or grinder. Still, the pin is so fine that I don’t worry about sticking it into drywall, wood trim, roof shingles or other finished surfaces where a nail hole would be obvious.
A protective sheath is available separately.
