Dustfoe 88 Respirator Review
This respirator from Mine Safety Appliances creates a tight fit and traps dust particles down to 0.5 microns
Having been a stonemason for some 20 years, I’ve seen a wide range of moderately priced diamond-cutting blades that make cutting stone and other masonry easier and more affordable. Although my crew uses fans and a water-fed saw to clear the stone dust, others still cut these products dry. This creates a dust problem that can lead to permanent lung damage.
For many years, I was too hard-headed to use a dust mask, but now my employees and I use dust masks religiously. Through trial and error, we have come to prefer the Dustfoe 88 respirator.
Unlike disposable masks, which don’t fit well and tend to fog safety glasses, the Dustfoe creates a tight fit and has an easily replaceable filter. Friends in the granite-countertop business wear the Dustfoe all day, which is the best endorsement going. And I have even gotten some carpenters to use it in high-dust situations.
The best part about using the Dustfoe is changing the filter. You see all the dust you’ve kept out of your lungs. Replacement filters cost a little more than a dollar each. The instructions are clear, and the parts are easy to replace.
