Inspecting Old Houses: Basements
Despite fears of a dark, scary place, recent mechanical upgrades put a positive spin on this inspection
Old house restoration specialist George Nash starts with the electrical and plumbing systems in this basement, then inspects the flooring beams and foundation for bug and moisture damage. He finishes with an inspection of a massive dry-stacked, stone chimney.

Interesting video. Gotta love those old houses. I hope you post a video of the project work. Many things are hidden as we often find out.
The well known "Mushroom Factor" will raise its ugly head
Hello, I hope someone can suggest a good option for me. I am purchasing a house built in 1949 and has the original wiring. I want to remove the old panel and install a 200A panel on the outside of the house. Once I identify all the receptacles and switches and inspect the wires I find in the attack and under the house, can I use the old wires to connect to a newer wire (inside of an electrical box) which runs to the new panel?
