The next time you need to install trim on a finished wall, consider using rare-earth magnets to show where the studs are.
Simply move these powerful little magnets over the wall, and they will quickly grab onto the closest screw or nail head, indicating the location of the stud (drawing below). This is much faster than using a traditional stud finder and eliminates the need for pencil marks on the wall.
