How to Make a Simple Plywood Sheet-Metal Brake
This homemade tool is more like a mold or a die than a brake, but you can use it to make simple bends in narrow pieces of coil stock in a pinch.
This tip, courtesy of David Kalin of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and demonstrated by Charles Miller, is a simple method for bending steel, copper, or aluminum flashing on site. As Charles points out, the flashing can run as long as you’ve got friends to hold it, but David’s improvised brake works if you’re working on your own as well.
